What is Information Architecture?

In practice, information architecture is concerned with “the structural design of shared information environments” such as digital user interfaces. In a way, information architecture provides the conceptual “blueprint” for application user interface behaviors. It includes defining and managing conceptual models that express the core relationships for sustainable human interaction between people and people and technology. At its core, information architecture enables “shared understanding and alignment with conceptual clarity.”

Information architecture is vital to requirements rationalization, product and experience strategy, research synthesis, design ideation, and data quality activities.
